Kanye West's hit single, "Power" really exemplifies the power that a song can have on someone. West brilliantly argues that no one man should have all that power. This melodic symphony implements a fusion of operatic-esk singing in addition to powerful rap and harmonic instrumentals to create this powerful song.
This song was in response to his critics, or haters (as he says). It particularly addresses the crew of Saturday Night Live with the lyrics "Fuc* SNL and the whole cast; Tell 'em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole as*; more specifically they can kiss my as*hole." Kanye West shows disdain for all that power that SNL employs against our lord and savior, Kanye West. West has always said that he is a man of God and man of all men. He truly believes and allows us to join him on this journey to see the truth about the power held by the socialists and flat earthers in our global society. He says "[They are] takin' my inner child, I'm fighting for custody."
Obviously, West insinuates the role the government plays in our society to try and take away the power of the free market and steal our identities from us. He also speaks about the "treasures in [his] mind but couldn't open up [his] vault; [his] childlike creativity, purity, and honesty; Is honestly being crowded by these grown thoughts." This quite obviously represents the pizza-gate that so clearly was true. It is almost as if West is having a direct conversation with me, telling me that there are still children being tortured under the now global pizza-gate conspiracy. Not only does he talk about ubiquitous social dilemmas that plague our society today, but he also references at the end of his masterpiece, "Now this will be a beautiful death." West wants his listeners to know that the end of the capitalist free market will end the freedoms we enjoy in our country that consider our life
The song "Power" by Kanye West is a testament to his genius when it comes to music. It is arguably his greatest song, and this popularity serves as a double entendre because he himself also now holds the power through his fame and popularity. Not listening to this song would be a disservice to one's self and everyone ought to listen to this song and Kanye West's music at least once in their lives.
Jaw dropping Mr. Johnston and Mr. McNeil! Such a great critique circled around the legend himself, Mr. Kanye West. I really like how you chose "Power" and even included the lyrics to add even more detail to the critique.

ReplyDeleteAmazing job Jack. You really challenge the confirmed antidisestablishmentarianist views of society by enabling the pondoring of potential and optimal alternative perspectives as to angles of attack in which to challenges societally threatening features of life itself which includes the anti-social socialism you mention previously in this very piece.
