Sour by Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' Best Song: Vote | Billboard

May 21, 2021 was a day that will go down in history. Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo released her debut album Sour. This album has 11 songs, including the hits Drivers License, Deja Vu, and Good 4 U. Olivia takes inspiration from Taylor Swift's captivating songwriting style, and Billie Eilish's whisper-like singing techniques. This album was loved by many teenagers and millennials because of how relatable the lyrics were. Whether you are in a relationship or not, you can equally connect to this album. Sour is also known for its catchy bridges that people can sing at the top of their lungs. From the ballads to the eccentric pop songs, this iconic album is for everyone.
Sour started with a controversial, powerful rock song called Brutal. Lots of people hate on this song because they say it's not her style of singing. Rodrigo is known for her relatable love ballads, but in our opinion this song plays a critical role for the album. Because it's the first song of the album it pumps people up and raises the energy. This song is the perfect way to start one of her concerts on an energized note.
At the start of 2021, people were eager for the next big single, and Olivia Rodrigo gifted the world Drivers License. Arguably the best song on the album. This was her first single, after All I Want, which she wrote while filming the show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. This song set the bar high for future songs coming out this year. Drivers License reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, Global 200, as well as setting a record for the most streams of a song in a week on Spotify. This song was loved with by a lot of people, but especially teenagers because of the relatable lyrics:
I got my driver's license last week
Just like we always talked about
'Cause you were so excited for me
To finally drive up to your house
But today I drove through the suburbs
Crying 'cause you weren't around

Drivers License also led to the drama between Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, and Sabrina Carpenter which was another reason teenagers were invested in the song. They loved following up the tea, and deciphering the lyrics.
This album is definitely going to be jam of the summer, and we will be playing this at full volume while driving down PCH.
