The Sketchbook Project course will teach students of any skill level to use media and techniques in sketches and more while also teaching the way to make sketchbooks from scratch! How exciting! When we entered the class on Zoom, the first thing we noticed was the quiet atmosphere that seemed to ooze artistry. We saw the students in class focusing on their pieces and students on Zoom with their cameras off---probably so they could immerse themselves in the beauty of art creations. In terms of teacher-student interactions and lessons, we may have arrived a bit late for that part of the course, but the students seemed confident in their work. Mr McMahon was looking around and checking on students here and there. He allowed the students maximum time for them to explore their undiscovered world of creativity and encouraged students to brainstorm out of the box. We asked one of the students what she thought about the class--she really enjoyed the quiet and productive workspace that the seminar allowed. The coordinators of this Sketchbook seminar were able to identify the desired schedule for the students to be able to expand their thoughts onto the pages of sketchbooks their pencils dance on.
